Craig Morris writes on TelePolis about the US press (english). This is scary stuff. The Senate’s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations finds that the US is the main perpetrator in the scandal surrounding the oil-for-food program, nevertheless basically nothing happens. Furthermore, the people in power don’t even fear that their lousy plots are discovered, because the general public is so (a)pathetic it doesn’t matter whether they know right from wrong.
It’s sad, and dangerous.
There’s also another TelePolis article on George Galloway’s appearance in front of the US senate which must have made quite an impression (german). There a transcript online:
“Now I know that standards have slipped in the last few years in Washington, but for a lawyer you are remarkably cavalier with any idea of justice. I am here today but last week you already found me guilty. You traduced my name around the world without ever having asked me a single question, without ever having contacted me, without ever written to me or telephoned me, without any attempt to contact me whatsoever. And you call that justice.” ¹
Awesome speech. 😄
I recommend it highly. I even saw the video that went with it.
