I just discovered map.search.ch via a post by Stefan Bucher. Seen from above, I clearly live in the suburbs of the old town ¹. The Aussersihl was outside the city walls and was the living quarters for all the servants, maids, and other cheap labor – proletarian housing: Four or five stories tall, appartments à three rooms (two bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom, and a livingroom), blocks surrounding a courtyard, usually some sort of local industry in it (rarely a little park) (in our courtyard there is a body painter).
