“Schrebergärten” are small plots of land used for gardening. Usually an association is formed which buys the land cheap near railways or somewhere in the no-man’s land between towns. It is then parcelled up and alotted to the gardeners. They often build little houses for grill parties and grow some vegetables there. On the first of August, the Swiss national holiday, friends are invited and fireworks are lit. Some people also put up a flag. Not always the Swiss flag. ;)

My camera is very small, but the quality is not very exciting: 2 megapixel, and the light sensors are quickly overloaded. I’m sure there’s a technical term for that. On a typical day, colors will look washed out. In winter, too gray, in summer, too much contrast. So I loaded the images into the Gimp and just chose *Auto Colors Enhance*.

Swiss *hanami* – cherry blossoms have been here for a week or two, now. Notice the crappy weather.

I tried the *Auto Color Enhance* on this picture, but the two blue barrels in the distance got very blue. The two pictures above are already pretty drastic, very artificial. Those two extra blue barrels were just too much, however. I really need to learn how to recreate this cherry blossom feeling.

Kirschblüten...

I’m trying to capture the intertwingled nature of architecture and plants, of the forces shaping the space we live in: people, buildings, weather, the walls we errect, the seeds we plant, the mess we create in our rooms, the serenity of light falling through the window, trees and in the distance, and industrial complex. I’m *trying*. 😄

Weiterhin viel Erfolg
