Tried **sudo fink selfupdate** and **sudo fink update-all** on my iBook yesterday, after switching from the fink X11 to Apple’s X11. It took ages, and then system-xfree86-manual-install wouldn’t build over night. Sometime during the night, my cable connection died, so I couldn’t download a corrupt zip file. Argh. >{
On a lighter note, MurrayAltheim is interested in digital libraries and started a blog called Electric Forest to collect his notes.

Heh. When I’m totally fed up with it... Considering my positive experience with Slackware, I might pick kubuntu instead. 😄
Anyway, update-all finally finished loading. It seems that our biggest provider in Switzerland had an outage yesterday.
I will download the kubuntu live CD anyway, so that in a moment of pain, I can just reboot with super cow powers. (*apt-get help* on my system says it has super cow powers at the bottom of the page.)

I just discovered that the Mac OS X utililty crashes when I try to burn the kubuntu live CD. So much for “zero hassle hardward support”... I had to burn it on my SlackWare system.

Wow. Unfortunately kubuntu did not detect my wifi correctly. 🙁

I think there are no linux drivers for the newer airport cards....

Hm. Maybe there is a driver but only for 802.11b and my base station defaults to 802.11g? I should investigate and set it to 802.11b before trying again.
