I’m still looking for an IRC client that will do the chat → speech thing for me. Maybe Conversation is what I’m looking for? Not free software, but freeware... Hm.

The founder and main contributor to the emacswiki, FSF member #894, not only chooses to use Apple’s proprietary softwares but is also announcing he is mowing away from emacs!

) – I used Emacs from coding, mail, and news. Then I stopped reading news and started IRC instead. Then I discovered that Thunderbird is a nice looking mail client. And I discovered that other IRC clients existed that did what I needed without me having to start Emacs. So these days I only start Emacs when I need to do some coding. And I do much less coding at home these days.
