Since you need a computer to load it with music, most people charge the player using the USB port. Nobody buys the external DC adapter. In fact, at the one shop where I asked, they called the distributor in Switzerland, and they told us that they don’t import the sucker.
I went to our local electronics shop ¹, they checked the web, they checked the connectors, they figured out the polarity, and I bought the generic DC adapter for CHF 20 ($16 or €13). Excellent service – friendly and competent.
