The new 2.6.7 kernel in Debian unstable no longer shows the warnigs I mentioned in the past (2004-05-31). At the same time, I can no longer apply the patch to usb/core/config.c which I had applied in the past (2004-06-22 Gadgets). The patch has already been applied. When I use *kernel-image-2.6.7-1-k7*, however, I can’t mount camera and mp3 player. Something must have changed...

Tried to compile a 2.6.7 kernel for hours until I discovered that 1. not being able to compile it was a known bug ¹ and 2. it worked just fine with *kernel-image-2.6.7-1-686* ². – Or so I thought, shortly before going to bed. But I must have confused things.

Today, both prebuilt 2.6.7 kernels don’t recognize the MP3 player anymore, only the 2.6.6 kernel with the patch I applied recognize the MP3 player. Wasted somebody’s time with my bug report, I guess.

Downgrading module-init-tools from 3.1-pre4-1 to 3.1-pre2-2 would help compile the kernel, or so it seems. But the old copy is no longer available, so I need to add more repositories to my sources.list... And aptitude crashes on startup (another known bug)... 😢 These last days have not been good for my Debian box...
