What do I think of *Web Based Communities 2004*... Hm... I just read about WTF:

WTF

• An open space gathering and conference of various grassroots projects, people, and organisations interested in creating a better world.
• An assembly of gifts and needs: tell everyone what your projects are all about, what they have to offer, and what they need. Together we have everything. Let’s self-organise and share.
• Action and not just talk. Too many social forums and gatherings result with little or no outcome. Come and propose and gain support for actions during May Day, ESF, G8 etc.
• About working together, despite our diverse goals. No more either or!

And the way they organize it:

opens up with brunch served to early arrivals; then an open circle with everyone introducing each other; a general presentation about esp; then, people introduce/propose sessions; and the sessions are organised in the available spaces there’ll be an open session, followed by a closed session, followed by open, and then closed, before a small tea break after tea, there’ll be a similar open, closed, open, closed sessions and, then, dinner will be served whilst people are sitting down to eat their dinners, there will be a closing circlee

simultaneously, the “wtf magazine” will be printed, and a production line (put the sheets of paper in order, slice it, fold it, bind it, etc.) of volunteers will produce it, and distribute this should take us to about 7pm, at which point, preparations can start for the party meanwhile films can be shown, where people can chill out and chat and, then about 10pm, the party can start with some live music, and djs perhaps some fires outside, some theatrical performances, etc.

and, at dawn, people can go home! =)
