Watched *The Big Lebowski* (IMDB:0118715) tonight. It was entertaining, and weird. It actually reminded me of somebody I know.
Posted something on Mr Blog’s blog ¹, whom I discovered via the referrer list on the Oddmuse site ²:
Sometimes I feel like we’re inflicting this upon ourselves. How many times have you chosen the “lesser” product. The mail client that did not do MIME. The addressbook that is not part of a mail client. How many times did you sit down and write a letter using notepad or vi? (Without running it through a program after that, of course!)
And since you never did, and since I never did, we recommend and install software for our mums and dads, girlfriends and non-geeks which we use ourself. Emacs, and Word, and Outlook, and the BBDB, and whatnot.
We are destroying the business case for simple software while we are bemoaning the spread of complex software.
Actually I was unable to post my text because I failed a test design to separate machines from humans! ³ And reloading the site is so damn slow, I just can’t fix it. Amazing.
I posted your comment to the blog for you. Sorry to hear the site was slow. Dumb web hosting companies 😃 David Beckemeyer - aka Mr Blog

Thanks! 😄 I later realized that there must be a bigger problem, maybe CSS or Javascript, I don’t know. Reloading did not work again that day, but when I decided to visit another site, the browser showed *the complete page* for a moment – so I assume a browser bug, or a design bug... – Alex
