Jikes. I’m having a hard time digesting Phil Greenspun’s latest post ¹ on muslim immigrants taking over European countries, his comparison of the situation with the fears people had jews. Am I missing something? Time to say loud and clear that I support an open society as described by Karl R. Popper. A society where people can change their government by non-violent means. A society where people can live in peace. I also like a society where minorities are protected from a majority by a constitution, so that democracy cannot turn upon itself. I couldn’t care less what passport people have, what color their skin has, what religious beliefs they have, where they came from, and how many kids they have. The foreigners I know here in Switzerland all say that it is a wonderful country. An open country. Very little racism. Very little xenophobia. Very little patriotism. That’s why I like it, here.
