I requested a transfer to a new registrar (away from the old dns-solutions.com (the reseller, which is related to the old web-hosting company) and tucows.com (the real registrar with a web interface that doesn’t seem to accept the nameservers I require) to gandi.net. Word of mouth... I paid for and confirmed the transfer, and then I noticed that emacswiki.org was working again. Checked my mail. Nobody had sent me word of a fix. Checked the web interface at tucows.com – somebody had added more nameservers. How frustrating – to be out there in the dark, in the DNS jungle, with no explanations. I feel like I’m being treated like an idiot – people talking behind my back and making decisions about my DNS without telling me about it. Truly, communicating effectively is a difficult thing, I certainly hope that I’m not treating anybody like that. Sure, I know nothing of the DNS system. But this *is* frustrating.

The interesting thing is that at least some of the people involved read this online diary.
