Omfast buys a pipe from Theldo and talks about Bilbo with Budoc.
An open cobblestone square bustling with people and sounds, a sensible spot for the heart of Tookland. The town is a busy one, with an abundance of residences and shops. There is a path up a hill to the southwest and another leads southwards to a more rural district. An old tree stands in the northwest corner of the square, and there are several postings upon it. A comfortable wooden bench sits next to the tree, where hobbits often sit to relax.

As the winter sun is slowly setting behind the hills, a fell wind is blowing from the west. Wrapped in a coat, Omfast staggers through the streets, carefully avoiding the ice on the ground. He is heading straight for the Lucky Tucky.
Theldo says “Hello sir where are you going.”
Omfast says, “Hah, where would any decent hobbit go at times such as these? To the inn, of course!”
Theldo says “My thoughts exatly but I not here for the inn but to sell my pipes.
Omfast stops walking and grins, “Ah, you sell pipes, eh? Do I know you from somewhere?”
A fair sized hobbit with a medium faty build, somewhere in his sixties. He has long, corkscrew brown hair. His blue eyes peek out from a rosy-cheeked face. He is wearing a purple shirt, over which is a rose-colored waistcoat with gold buttons. His teal trousers go down to his unshod feet, and are held up by a large batered teal leather belt with a bronze and silver buckle. On his head is a short, musty, torn, old yellow hat, and on his back a blue and green checkerd cloak.
Theldo says “I don’t remeber you but maybe we have.”
Budoc arrives from the northeast. Budoc has arrived. Budoc goes into the pipe shop. Budoc has left.
Malbo arrives from the local Inn. Malbo has arrived.
Omfast nods, “Hm, you see I am new here and I bought my last pipe up in Bywater. Look at it, not really a worthy pipe, eh?” He shows Theldo his old and battered thing he calls a pipe.
Malbo heads northeast toward the Stock Road. Malbo has left.
Theldo says “If I was you I would be out to buy a new pipe.”
Omfast nods, “Hm, well, you may be right. Show me what you have then, old man.”

Budoc arrives from the northeast. Budoc has arrived.
Theldo says “For a measly 15 bronze pennies.
Budoc says, “Good evening, my name is Budoc Baggins.”
Omfast takes the pipe, and turns it between his fingers. “Hmm... I don’t know. It doesn’t seem to be that much better than the pipe I have, you know.”
Omfast looks at Budoc and nods, “Good evening to you too. My name is Omfast Cotton. You’re here to buy a pipe as well?”
A small, pudgy hobbit, about forty years old. He has short brown hair and is wearing a large hat. His black trousers are held by a pair of red braces. He is wearing a green shirt and a black waistcoat.
Theldo says “For 15 measly copper pennies.”
Omfast considers some more, and finally shows the pipe to Budoc. “What do you think, Mr. Baggins?”
Budoc says, “Hm...I don’t know...what does it cost?”
Theldo says “15 copper pieces.”
Omfast shows his old pipe to Mr. Baggins, “See now this one is pretty chewed through, so I will have to get a new one anway.”
Omfast turns back to Theldo and says, “Here, I’ll give you 10 copper for that pipe. Agreed?”
Theldo says “13”
Omfast shakes his head, “Not for this pipe. Do you have a nicer one? Some funky animals on that pipe head would be nice. I’d pay you 12 for a pipe with some birds on it.”
Theldo says “11”
Omfast takes the pipe and says, “Agreed. 11 copper it is. Here you go.” You +give 11 Copper Pennies to Theldo.
Budoc says, “What are you doing now, Mr Cotton?”
Omfast says, “I was just about to go into the Lucky Tucky. What about you, Mr. Baggins? Care to join me for a nice warm tea before first supper?”
Budoc says, “Ok, I’ll come with you.”
Omfast bows and says, “What a pleasure.”
You enter the Lucky Tucky Inn looking for food and merriment.
Lucky-Tucky Inn Behold the Lucky Tucky Inn: finest in ale and merriment in all of Tookland! The inn has a cozy feel to it– many paintings adorn the wooden walls as well as a rather large map of the Westfarthing. Behind the rustic oak bar stands quite a small hobbit, Brant Thudder, keeping busy cleaning glass and serving drinks and such.
The inn holds many distinguishing features. In the center of the spacious room is a spring wood dance floor, kept clean at all times. The bar is usually busy, various hobbits chatting and drinking jovially. Round tables are spread throughout the room with orange tablecloths and baskets of assorted crackers on each table. A few barrels of Ol’ Toby Pipeweed can be seen to the side of the bar, and the tavern’s patrons merrily fill the air with its sweet smoking aroma. Towards the back wall of the establishment a small stage rises above the tavern floor, a perfect place for small side acts and musical performances. Next to the bar there is a small door that leads outside to the back yard. Budoc comes in from the square. Budoc has arrived. Budoc moves to the bar.
Omfast calls out, “Two hot teas for two hobbits from the cold outside, Brant!” Brant looks darkly at Omfast and nods, “Coming right away.”
Budoc says, “What are you doing when you’re not buying pipes?”
Omfast shakes his hair and flattens his hair, and hangs his coat on a peg. “Me? I am the gardener at the Great Smials. Newly arrived, too. What do you do in the area?”
Budoc says, “I’m, hm...you could say a “Hobbit of Leisure”. My family is well-situated, as you know...I’m still looking for an interesting job...”
Budoc shouts: “How long does it take to make a tea?”
Omfast grins, “Aye, I have heard the lunatic stories that Bilbo Baggins kept bragging with. What a strange fellow he was.”
Budoc says, “Oh, you’re right. Really strange stories..”
Brant brings two mugs of tea, shoots a dark glance at the two hobbits and sets the mugs down with a slap. “There you go, Mister!” he says, and walks away again.
Budoc shouts: “Thank you...”
Budoc says, “He is writing a book about that...I think “There and Back again” or sth. like that...””
Brant says, louder than usual, “Watch your words, stranger! Don’t you start like some other hobbits in the area, fooling around and good for nothing!” Some other guests start staring, too.
Omfast shakes his head, “Bah! Letters! I couldn’t care less. Where is he, now, anyway?”
Budoc says, “No problem, Brant.”
Brant relaxes visibly and returns to polishing the wine glasses.
Budoc says, “Usually, he’s at home, I think...”
Budoc says, “Eating, writing poems, and so on...”
Time passes as the two hobbits start discussing Bilbo’s stories...
Budoc drinks his tea.
