♬ the sounds of home
This makes the east coast my least favorite spot by default. I have no real reason though to dislike out east, however. The culture is foreign to me, but the people are alright.
Last night I got a text at around 2030 informing me that my flight from Albany to DC the next morning was canceled. This was the first leg of my journey and effectively stranded me. I called the airline and they informed me that due to thunderstorms, no fligts were leaving Albany that night, or next day. I asked them to broaden the search to the entire eastern seaboard, leaving me enough time to drie starting immediately after the call. I was put on hold and I rapidly packed up al my stuff in the hotel room.
The customer service agent returned and told me I had been booked on a flight departing Philladelphia, PA at 0600. I thanked her and hit the road about 2130. I got to Philly at 0130 and took a short nap in my rental car.
Quick note about rental cars: if you didn't know, you absolutely can return them to a location other than where you told the rental car company you would. I often also return national car rentals to enterprise rent-a-car locations as they are the same company.
Back to the story - returned the car, checked in at the airport, plane took off at 0600 to Houston, Texas. Then a flight to Salt Lake City, Utah. Then another car rental and a drive from SLC to Wyoming. I was home at 1530. Except for the nap in the car and on the flights I had been up since 0530 the previous day.
I much prefer working closer to home, but what're you gonna do?
