Sitting in East Texas

I have earbuds in, listening to an album that reminds me of the early 2000s, living in west Texas. It was a different world then. Well, one of many. The world ended in 2001, again in 2012, again in 2020... each time leaving what preceded unrecognizable.

Traveling like I do, I am alone most of the time. A new place, another airport, a new industrial plant with issues... all hotel rooms are basically the same. Especially since I generally always stay with the same chain. In the last two years I have gathered 500,000 points at this hotel chain, after using some for free nights even. In the same time I have gathered the same number of air miles with the airline I use.

I have a ritual of calling my wife and youngest daughter every night when on the road. It keeps me connected. tonight was a treat because my son was over at the house when I called.

Otherwise I just kind of drift through this fucked up clown world that has sprung into being in the last little bit. Slowly. Sometimes springing forward in a sprint I think of these as the world ending. A new one takes its place and things become very unlike the previous time...

{Radiohead Street Spirit (Fade Out) is a goddamned masterpiece, I am also very fond of the cover of this song by the Greek black metal band Sad}

In the book the Fourth Turning the ancient concept of the seclorum is elucidated. In a sense I hold on to the hope that the natural cycle will reverse things. At a certain point, however, the controllers will be able to impose their will in opposition to any cycle. I do not know if we are there yet. Maybe Doug Vogt is right and the sun will micronova in 2046. I seriously doubt we will be so lucky.

As an anarchist, I have always been in opposition to both wings of the uniparty. I cannot find agreement with conservatives (who conserve nothing), nor blue haired communists (who will be up against the wall when the revolution arives), nor libertarians (who care not that allowing everyone to do as they please has destroyed thousands of years of tradition that was developed for a reason), nor monarchists (who at some level hold the divine right of kings, but in any case root for the same old families that have always placed their thumbs upon us)...

Even if the micronova doesn't happen, maybe being underground between the tropics of cancer and capricorn isn't a bad idea. As alone as East Texas at night time.
